The Labrador Heritage Society is committed to the development of the rich historical resources of the Upper Lake Melville area, to attract tourists to the region while keeping our heritage alive. Our commitment to fulfilling our mandate is particularly evident in the museum located at North West River. The Labrador Heritage Museum is located in the restored Hudson's Bay Store, built in the 1920s, and houses artifacts depicting the rich history of North West River.

The Trapper's Monument and Statue project in North West River represents a long term commitment to build and erect a true memorial to the trappers of the region, whose lifestyle survived for over two hundred years, from 1725 to 1950.

The Society organized the centennial celebrations of the Mina Hubbard expedition in 2005 with a symposium, reenactment and Women's Retreat.

The Labrador Heritage Society is the Keeper of the Flag of Labrador, and the Labrador Tartan.
